The European Day of Languages will be celebrated in Egypt on September 26, 2024, at the Instituto Cervantes in Cairo (Dokki), in a vibrant event aimed at promoting linguistic diversity and fostering cultural relations between Egypt and Europe. This initiative is co-organized by embassies and cultural institutions from 11 European countries, showcasing their commitment to enhancing mutual understanding through the rich diversity of languages.
The event, under the auspices of EUNIC Egypt, aligns with the European Union's motto "Unity in Diversity" and aims to raise awareness about the benefits of multilingualism. Participants will engage in interactive activities designed to highlight the advantages of learning different languages, particularly in fostering intercultural dialogue and promoting personal and professional growth.
One of the highlights of the program will be a slam poetry night, featuring four poets from Czechia and four from Egypt, where the audience will actively participate by voting for their favorite performances.
This annual celebration, which has been recognized across Europe since 2001, marks a significant cultural exchange in Egypt, offering the public an opportunity to experience the linguistic diversity of Europe first-hand.
Program Highlights:
Morning Program for Schools (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM): Designed for high school students (ages 15-18), with around 350-400 students from 10 schools expected to attend. Students will participate in "zero-level" language classes, giving them a taste of various European languages and helping guide their future language learning.
Afternoon Program for the Public (5:00 PM - 10:00 PM): Includes cultural stations, competitions, and activities related to European languages and cultures, culminating in an engaging evening of slam poetry.
