The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a double sanction against Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, for what it deemed unsportsmanlike conduct and misconduct following the quarter-final match between Cameroon and Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco.
In an official statement, CAF explained that its Disciplinary Committee had charged Samuel Eto'o with misconduct for his actions during the Morocco-Cameroon match held in Rabat as part of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The statement confirmed that the Disciplinary Committee found the Cameroonian Football Federation president guilty of violating the principles of sportsmanship, in accordance with Article 2(3) of the CAF Statutes and Article 82 of its Code of Ethics, due to actions deemed contrary to the values of the game. Consequently, the Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend Eto'o from attending four official matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and fine him US$20,000.
