The Cabinet's media center denied on Friday reports of selling Cairo's Tahrir Complex building to foreign investors.

The media center said in its statement that it had contacted the Egyptian Sovereign Fund officials, who denied these claims and described them as baseless.

The media center confirmed that the fund, which acquired ownership of the 13-storey building, has no plans to sell it to foreign or Egyptian investors.

The fund said it seeks to partner with developers and investors to finance the renovation aimed at converting the complex into a multi-purpose complex building.

The renovation plan relates to assembling a hotel, commercial, and administrative services as well as cultural ones in order to ensure revenues for the state's treasury.

The fund called on all media outlets to ensure accuracy to the news before publishing any reports that can cause confusion among citizens.
