The Egyptian Cabinet decided to grant workers in the private and public sector a paid official leave on Thursday, Mar. 12.
In a statement today, the Cabinet referred to the paid holiday in light of the latest update of the weather forecast, what was raised by Mohamed Abdel-Ati, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicted heavy rain along the northern coasts and in Lower Egypt, the canal cities, with thunderstorms expected in some areas.
The statement indicated that workers in vital facilities, which are determined by the competent authority, such as water and sanitation services, transport, ambulance, hospitals, mills and bakeries, as well as police services are excluded.
