Egyptian designer Dalia Youssef designed a swimming suit that is called Burkini, she specialized in it 6 years ago.
Burkini got the interest in the Arabia countries, Europe and America. The New York Times published an edition on its cover of veiled Somali Halema Aden wearing Burkini and it’s the first time the American society recognize the Burkini.

Beginnings
It appeared in Egypt more than six years ago, it was presented by some Egyptian fashion designers such as Reham Farouk, also designer, Dalia Youssef, that added to Burkini an African touch.
Youssef said that she started in designing Burkini more than 5 years ago. Unfortunately, the sizes of materials were not adequate, so she decided to serve people with waterproof material either for Egyptian material, Turkish or Italian, each material has its advantages; the Italian material was expensive; she uses now the Turkish material and she prints them and signs her name to ensure non-imitation.
Different Models
Youssef chose African attracting paintings suitable to be on Burkini; she painted them with waterproof colors to suit the swimming suits. She delivered three different designs, each one fits different weight of a given model.
She designed Jump suits; the second model is a pair of trousers and the other piece is similar to the dress. The third model is a blouse and trouser. All the designs printed with African paint with turquoise, blue and orange.
About the designer
Egyptian fashion designer Dalia Youssef is from Alexandria. She began her life designing jewelries from various materials and then shifted to the costumes especially the sports and casual wear.
She noticed that the market lacks Burkini large sizes and models suitable for different body forms. The models are successful in all governorates of Egypt and also abroad in Tunisia and the UAE, which means success of the designer in providing the required Burkini in the local and international markets as well.
