A Southwest Airlines flight preparing for departure from Dallas Love Field Airport was struck by a bullet late on Friday, prompting the aircraft to return to the gate.
According to a statement from Southwest Airlines, Flight 2494 was scheduled to depart for Indianapolis when the bullet hit the plane’s right side, just below the cockpit, as the crew prepared for takeoff. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew members.
The airline confirmed that the incident was immediately reported to law enforcement, and the aircraft was taken out of service for investigation.
Dallas Love Field Airport issued a statement acknowledging the incident, which occurred at about 9:50 p.m. local time.
Emergency services, including the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Fire-Rescue teams, responded promptly to the scene.
All passengers safely disembarked the plane following the incident, and airport operations continued with minimal disruption.
Authorities are yet to confirm the source of the bullet or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
