The "SPE Chapter" Club for Petroleum Engineering and Gas Technology Department students at the British University in Egypt (BUE) won the Excellence Award for the academic year 2020.
The award is presented by the International Petroleum Engineers Association (IPEA) annually.
This is the 8th consecutive year the company is recognizing student competitions at the level of petroleum engineering departments around the world.
Dr. Attia Attia, the Energy and Environment Engineering Faculty Dean at the BUE, explained that the award is a reflection of the excellence in education, scientific research, community development and innovation, in addition to strong ties with the oil and gas industry in Egypt.
Dr. Attia added that the Excellence prize is awarded by IPEA to the best 20% of student clubs worldwide, out of 368 clubs coming from most universities in the world. It is distributed in a general conference annually since it was founded in USA 1957.
On other hand, IPEA aims to collect, publish and exchange technical knowledge related to exploration, development and production of oil and gas.
The Association took this move in order to achieve the greatest benefit from energy and provides opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
It is worthy to note that the Association includes 168,000 members worldwide, including 99,174 engineers, geologists, scientists and researchers from 144 countries.
