A scientific study authored by experts of the US Brookings Institute affirmed the importance of investment in mining rare earth elements (REE) throughout Africa due to the tremendous resources of rare metals in various parts of the brown continent.
The study stressed that revenues from exploiting these elements may suffice to irradiate poverty and ameliorate life walks across the continent.
The study pointed out that Africa could surpass China as the main source of rare earth elements so economies of the countries of Africa could export huge quantities of these elements that are components of defense industries and sophisticated technologies.
However, the authors of the study state that mining rare earth elements in Africa still needs hefty investments and practical plans along with activating the Accord of Free Trade among Africa’s countries.
