A British study revealed that the protection provided by two doses of the anti-corona vaccines against the “Delta” strain of the Coronavirus weakens after three months.
It is worth noting that this strain is the most common in the world now and infects millions since it appeared months ago.
They concluded that those who received two doses of the anti-corona vaccines made by either Pfizer or AstraZeneca may become a source of infections to others.
The study was conducted by the professorate of the UK Oxford University.
The study was based on three million samples collected from nose and throat across the United Kingdom (UK).
It affirmed that after 90 days (three months) the effectiveness of the vaccine made by AstraZeneca retreated by 75% and Pfizer’s one by 61%.
On her part, Dr. Sara Walker, Professor of Medical Statistics at Oxford University and the authors of the study said that both the vaccines made by AstraZeneca and Pfizer work well after two doses to fight the “Delta” strain.
The authors of the study did not define the rate of retreat of effectiveness after three to five months of receiving the second dose.
The study shed the light on the rising danger of the “Delta” strain as those who contract it have a load of the virus of that strain then they become a source of infection.
Results of the British study agree with an analysis conducted by the US Centers for Control Diseases and Prevention (USCCDP).
US government mulls over giving a third dose of the anti-corona vaccine next month as infections with the “Delta” strain increase significantly.
The USCCDP attributes the third dose to the retreat of protection provided by the vaccines as time passes.
It is worth noting that Israel has started giving the third dose to face the rocketing rate of local infections due to the “Delta” strain.
Some European countries are expected to five strengthening doses to elder people and those who suffer from weakness in the Immunity system.
