British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak swore to keep Britain away from fossil fuels that pollute the environment, and to turn to more clean energy in order to secure energy supplies, Sky News reported.

In his speech on Monday at the COP27 climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, the British prime minister will argue that the shock to global energy markets caused by the Russia-Ukrainian war underscores the need to move to cheaper, cleaner and safer energy sources.

Eralier, Sunak had announced that he would not participate in the climate summit, but changed his opinion after being subjected to severe criticism in his country.
