British Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed concern on Saturday over the recent escalation between Israel and Iran, calling for calm to prevent further damage.
Lamy was quoted as saying: "There is concern about the strikes that took place in the Middle East last night," according to British newspaper The Guardian.
"We must urgently de-escalate the situation." Lamy added, on " X", that he spoke to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Friday "to urge calm," as well as to his counterparts in the region, Europe, and the United States.
He noted that he would hold further talks today with his counterparts across the Middle East and elsewhere.
