The British government announced on Sunday that British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps visited Washington, DC, for the first time since he assumed this position, to hold urgent talks with his US counterpart and members of Congress, in support of global stability.
Shapps said - according to what the British government reported on its official website - “The United Kingdom and the United States stand resolutely in the face of aggressors and terrorists and support their friends and partners in the struggle for freedom and security."
He added: "Our countries were the first to provide Ukraine with the ongoing support it needs to overcome Russia, and now we are working side by side with regional partners to prevent escalation and protect civilians in the Middle East."
The British Defense secretary added, "At such a crucial time, the urgent talks I held with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, members of the US Congress, and my counterparts in the Middle East confirm the United Kingdom's commitment to peace and prosperity."
According to the British Government, the United Kingdom and the United States stand firm in their shared commitment to uphold international law and protect civilians.
