A British Court of Appeals yesterday, Monday,  dismissed last-minute petitions against the government's controversial plan to deport migrants who have arrived in the UK illegally to Rwanda, in East Africa,  on the eve of the first planned flights to that country.

Despite criticism from human rights advocates, the United Nations, the Anglican Church, and even the British royal family, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government appears determined to prevent the illegal crossing of the English Channel, which has been on the rise despite repeated promises since Brexit.

The judge of the Court of Appeals in London said: "This appeal is dismissed", which was filed against the draft Conservative government led by Johnson.

The judge, Rabindur Singh, confirmed the decision issued by the Court of First Instance following an emergency appeal filed by associations defending refugees, according to the French press agency.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, condemned the United Kingdom's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda, saying it was "all wrong" while warning that it would set a "disastrous" precedent.
