The British Ministry of Defense said Tuesday that Royal Navy ships moved to the eastern Mediterranean as part of the deployment of British military forces to support Israel as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict worsens.
“The Royal Navy’s task force has departed for the eastern Mediterranean to enhance regional stability and provide emergency capabilities in the coming weeks,” the ministry said in a post on “X”.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the transfer of his country's military forces to the eastern Mediterranean to support Israel.
On October 7, the Commander-in-Chief of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, announced the start of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” to put an end to “Israeli violations.”
Al-Deif said in a statement: “The first strike, which targeted the enemy’s positions, airports and military fortifications, exceeded 5,000 missiles and shells.”
