Britain announced on Friday a new competition system in 2021 between Google, Facebook and small businesses, as the law will be implemented by a dedicated unit within the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The new unit could be given powers to suspend, block and reverse decisions of tech giants, order them to take certain actions to achieve compliance with the code, and impose financial penalties for non-compliance.

The UK Competition Regulatory Authority said digital advertising was dominated by Google and Facebook, with around 80% of the £ 14 billion spent in 2019. Also, the US companies reported that they are committed to working with the UK government and regulator on digital advertising, including giving users greater control over their data and the ads served to them.
Moreover, Marketers for an Open Web (MOW), a coalition of technology and publishing companies, said Google was modifying its Chrome browser and Chromium developer tools to give it greater control over publishers and advertisers.
