Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will quarantine until Dec.24 after being in contact with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.
Today, the Elysee announced that Macron was infected with the novel coronavirus, pointing out that he would be subject to quarantine for a period of seven days and work remotely, while his office is currently working on identifying potential contacts to inform them of the matter.
The statement noted that it is not currently known how the president contracted COVID-19.
It’s noteworthy that 67-year-old-Brigitte, Macron’s wife, also will quarantine as well.
In addition, Portugal’s Prime Minister Antonio Costa has cancelled official trips and is in self-isolation.
Costa displayed no symptoms and was awaiting the result of a coronavirus test he got earlier on Thursday, his Office said.
