Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet submitted a resignation to the king on Monday.
In a statement issued by the palace, Muhyiddin will remain as a caretaker until a new premier is appointed.
This decision comes as Malaysia is fighting its worst coronavirus outbreak and the economic hit from multiple rounds of lockdowns.
