The Israeli military announced early Friday that its air force carried out a series of preemptive strikes on dozens of military targets across Iran.
The military spokesperson did not specify the exact locations or provide details on the outcomes of the operation.
According to Israel Hayom, security sources indicated that the strikes aimed to eliminate senior Iranian officials in Tehran. Meanwhile, Channel 12 reported that the broader objective was to neutralize what Israel views as the Iranian nuclear threat.
An Israeli military source said one of the strikes hit a neighborhood in Tehran housing high-ranking members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), coinciding with multiple violent explosions reported in the Iranian capital by both Iranian and international news agencies.
As of Friday morning, Iranian authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the explosions or the scope of the damage.
Tensions remain high across the region, with widespread concern over the potential for a broader military escalation.
