Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that Ethiopia does not intend to harm Nile Basin countries.
Ahmed said, in a statement he posted on his Twitter account, that Ethiopia keeps the trust, including fulfillment of promises are an integral part of the heritage of the Ethiopian people, as well as one of the pillars of its government's foreign policy.

Ahmed pointed out that the needs of the Nile Basin countries for development are increasing, due to population growth, which calls on Egypt and Ethiopia to work together to achieve sustainable development and establish a true partnership to achieve the aspirations of the two peoples in sustainable development, continuing: “Our constant communication with downstream countries and their leaders, It is a true reflection of our desire to strengthen brotherhood and cooperation between us.”
The Ethiopian Prime Minister praised the wise leadership of the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and his relentless efforts in building and developing the country, stressing that the Renaissance Dam will have great benefits for all, including the adequate storage of Nile water as a guarantee for all in difficult droughts.
