The Brazilian Supreme Court has ordered the investigation of the country's President Jair Bolsonaro over his statements about the alleged risks of contracting "AIDS" due to the anti-Coronavirus vaccines.
Judge Alejandri de Moraes made this decision in response to the request of the Senate investigative committee, which in October accused Bolsonaro of committing nine crimes in his policies to deal with the Corona pandemic, including "crimes against humanity".
This decision means that Bolsonaro will closely follow the prosecutor's investigation, as the Supreme Court does not conduct any investigations.
The Brazilian Senate's investigative committee submitted its nearly 1,300-page report on Bolsonaro's possible crimes to the attorney general's office last October, but the outlook for the case remains murky, as the current attorney general has been appointed by Bolsonaro himself.
The Brazilian president, who refuses to be vaccinated, made some controversial statements about vaccines against the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19), claiming that they may increase the possibility of contracting HIV (AIDS).
Because of the controversial statements, "YouTube" and "Facebook" blocked Bolsonaro's accounts after he was accused of spreading false information about the Coronavirus.
Brazil's parliamentary commission of inquiry into COVID-19 has endorsed the horrific report of its six-month investigation and recommends that President Jair Bolsonaro be charged with nine charges, including a "crime against humanity".
Seven members of the 11-person panel voted in favor of the 1,200-page report that calls for the president to be charged with "crime against humanity", "sorcery", "dereliction" and "incitement to crime".
But a "crime against humanity" could be brought before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
