Brazil's Bolsonaro Hospitalized in Florida with “Severe Abdominal Pain”

Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro has reportedly been hospitalized in Florida due to stomach pain, media outlets reported on Monday.

Bolsonaro had a litany of health problems in recent years, as he was stabbed in the abdomen on the campaign trail in 2018. Since then, he had been dealing with a series of medical issues.

In January 2022, he was taken to a Sao Paulo hospital for tests after experiencing abdominal discomfort. Back then, the ex-president published a photo of himself on Twitter in a hospital bed, pointing out that more tests will be done for possible surgery.

Last month, Bolsonaro left the country and landed in Florida, avoiding the inauguration of his political nemesis, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The former leader maintained his salience since losing the election on 30 Oct. A few hours before reports of his departure, he addressed the country as president on his social media.
