Brazilian President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva arrived at the "Santos" stadium to bid farewell to the late football legend Pele, before transferring his body to his final resting place.

Brazilian king of soccer Pelé passed away on Thursday at 82 after a battle with cancer, kidney, and heart problems, his agent Joe Fraga confirmed the tragic news.

The legendary footballer had undergone treatment for colon cancer since 2021. Last month, he was hospitalized with multiple ailments.

Pelé’s health deteriorated as he was diagnosed with anasarca (general swelling), edemigemic syndrome (general edema), and a “decompensated heart failure.”

His daughter Kely Nascimento stated that he was hospitalized in Sao Paulo to regulate the medication in his fight against a colon tumour.

She affirmed that there was “no emergency” concerning her 82-year-old father’s health.
