Brazilian President Lula da Silva launched a sharp attack on his US counterpart, Donald Trump, criticizing the US's imposition of 50% tariffs on Brazilian products. Lula considered the move a disguised political attack that threatens his country's sovereignty, accusing Trump of acting authoritarian and anti-civilized.
"I respect everyone, and I demand respect for myself," da Silva said, completely ruling out the possibility of direct contact with Trump.
Da Silva also attacked former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his son Eduardo, accusing them of encouraging Washington to impose sanctions. He considered this an unprecedented betrayal, demanding that they be prosecuted for "incitement to harm national interests."
