Brazil will host the 2025 BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7, bringing together leaders from BRICS member states and partner nations to discuss global economic development, cooperation, and international policy.
Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira confirmed the summit dates following a meeting with Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes.
Brazil assumed the rotating presidency of BRICS on January 1 and is currently leading working groups to finalize the agenda and key topics for the summit.
The decision to hold the event in Rio comes after the city's successful hosting of the G20 Leaders' Summit in November 2024, reinforcing its status as a prime destination for high-level international gatherings.
Vieira emphasized the importance of the summit, stating that leaders from 20 BRICS member and partner nations will convene to make significant decisions on economic growth, cooperation, and improving living conditions in their respective countries.
He highlighted Rio’s strategic role as a host city for major international forums.
Mayor Eduardo Paes, who has established a special committee to oversee the event’s organization, stressed that the BRICS Summit will further enhance international relations while promoting cultural, trade, and tourism exchanges.
