European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has stressed that Israel must respect international law in its defense, as fighting has resumed and large numbers of civilians have been killed in Gaza.
Borrell said, "Unfortunately, fighting has resumed in the Gaza Strip, and we are seeing a continuation of the already high number of civilian casualties."
"How Israel exercises its right to self-defense is important, and it is important that Israel respects international humanitarian law and the laws of war," he added.
