The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, today called for an investigation into a deadly heavy shelling that damaged the International Committee of the Red Cross office in Gaza.
Borrell wrote on the X platform, "The European Union condemns the shelling that damaged the International Committee of the Red Cross office in Gaza and resulted in the death and injury of dozens. An independent investigation is needed and those responsible must be held accountable."
The International Committee of the Red Cross announced late Friday night on X that heavy shelling had killed 22 people and injured 45 others, causing damage to its office surrounded by hundreds of displaced civilians.
It added that "the strike caused material damage to our office, which is surrounded by hundreds of displaced civilians living in tents, including many of our Palestinian colleagues and their families."
