Josep Borrell The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has traveled to Italy to participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meetings hosted by Italy over two days.
According to a press release from the European External Action Service (EEAS), Borrell will join discussions with G7 counterparts on the situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea. Later today, Arab partners are expected to participate in a session titled "Together for the Middle East."
On Tuesday, Borrell is scheduled to engage in a session with G7 foreign ministers and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, focusing on sustaining support for Ukraine against Russia. Further discussions will address the Indo-Pacific region with contributions from partner nations, along with other international issues such as the Horn of Africa, Venezuela, and Haiti.
The statement also noted that Borrell will hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G7 gathering.
This two-day summit, led by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, marks the second G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting under Italy’s rotating presidency this year, following the April summit in Capri. Representatives from the G7 countries—Germany, Canada, France, Japan, the UK, and the United States, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken—are in attendance.
