Bollywood star Akshay Kumar revealed a very special daily habit- he daily drinks cow urine. An increasing number of Indians attribute the urine to have therapeutic benefits against several diseases, including Covid-19.
The actor is known for his strong support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party, which is investing millions of dollars to develop products made from the urine or dung of these animals that are sacred to devout Hindus.
These products are attributed to their supposed capabilities in fighting diabetes or cancer as they are used in making toothpaste, but no integrated scientific study has proven these purported benefits.
Kumar, 53, revealed this information during a social media interview promoting a TV program with British adventurer Bear Grylls.
During the program, the two men drunk tea made from elephant droppings, inside an Indian tiger reserve.
"I was not worried. I take cow urine daily for its medicinal benefits in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda), which is the secret of my comfort," Kumar told actress Huma Qureshi during the conversation.
Many Hindus take cow urine for its supposed health benefits.
Also, members of the Modi (Bharatiya Janata Janata Party) recommend drinking cow urine or eating its dung to prevent the emerging corona virus, according to what was reported by AFP.
In mid-March, the Hindu organization "All India Hindu Mahasabha" held a ceremony in New Delhi to promote this mixture as a weapon against Covid-19.
India has recorded 4.6 million cases of the virus, which has killed 76,000 people in the country.
