The body of the Egyptian nuclear scientist Dr. Abu Bakr Abdel Moneim Ramadan, who died in Marrakesh, Morocco, arrived in Cairo earlier Wednesday in order to be buried at his family’s cemetery in Kafr Al Sheikh city, Qaliobiya.
The late scientist family members received his body at Cairo international airport.
Noteworthy, Dr. Ramadan died last Thursday after suffering a severe health disorder inside his room at Agdal hotel in Marrakesh.
The Egyptian scientist was in Marrakech to attend an Arab conference on energy.
Medical sources said that he felt severe stomach cramps before heading to the clinic where he died. Blood samples have been sent to a medical laboratory in Casablanca to see if the death was caused by poisoning.
The sources pointed out that the police officers moved to the scene to conduct an investigation into the incident.
The cause of death was a heart attack, according to the hospital and the forensic report. A forensic exam was done in conformity with the kingdom's regulations.
The Egyptian expert reportedly participated in official meetings with Arab environment ministers in 2014 and was commissioned, along with other experts, in 2015 to study the potential effects of the Bushehr nuclear reactors in Iran and Dimona in Israel.
