A barge carrying 1.4 thousand tons of methanol partially sank in a dam on the Ohio River in the US state of Kentucky.
According to Russia Today (RT) the authorities closed the gates of the Ohio River Dam to prevent the leakage of toxic substances.
"The water gates in Louisville, Kentucky, are closed to marine traffic due to a navigation emergency," the US Army Corps of Engineers said in a statement.
The cause of the accident was not determined, and according to the authorities, a total of 10 barges that had previously been separated from the tugboats were damaged.
