"Bloomberg", a US news agency quoted sources, that the European Union (EU) intends to reduce the consumption of natural gas due to fears of a possible interruption of gas supplies from Russia.
The sources told Bloomberg that the EU intends to offer member states a voluntary 15% reduction in natural gas consumption starting next month due to concerns that Russia may cut off supplies.
This proposal will be included in a list accompanying the plan to reduce consumption that is due to be presented by the European Commission today, Wednesday, to deal with the possible complete disruption of supplies by Moscow.
As part of the "Safer Gas for a Safer Winter" plan, the commission plans to recommend measures that include reductions in heating and cooling costs.
