On Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomed and supported the efforts of ECOWAS group to defend democracy in Niger.
"I strongly welcome and support the leadership of ECOWAS Heads of State and Governments to defend constitutional order in Niger," Blinken tweeted.
"The legitimate, democratically-elected government must be reinstated immediately," he added.
