US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will start a tour, during which he will visit Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Qatar starting Monday, for a period of three days; to complete efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement that guarantees the release of all detainees in the Gaza Strip.

The US State Department stated, in a statement, Friday, that Blinken will stress, during the tour, the importance of Hamas’s acceptance of the proposal on the table, which is almost identical to the proposal that Hamas supported last month. Blinken will also explain - during his discussions - how the ceasefire proposal will benefit the Israelis and Palestinians.

The statement pointed out that Blinken will also confirm that the “ceasefire”  would alleviate suffering in Gaza, enable a massive increase in humanitarian aid, and allow Palestinians to return to the places they were displaced. It would open up the possibility of achieving calm along Israel's northern border - so that Israelis and displaced Lebanese families can return to their homes, as well as strengthening Israel's long-term security and improving stability throughout Israel and the region.
