The meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Baghdad tackled the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian factions and the need to avoid its expansion, US Ambassador to Iraq, Elena Romanowski confirmed on Monday.
During the meeting, US Secretary of State affirmed the continued commitment to coordination with Iraq and partners in the region to ensure sustainable and safe access to food, water, medical care, and other necessary assistance to meet the necessary needs.
The US ambassador to Baghdad explained that the two sides discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stressed the need to ensure that Palestinians are not forced to leave Gaza Strip.
On his part, Blinken urged Iraqi PM to hold accountable those responsible for continuing attacks against US forces in Iraq and to fulfill Iraqi obligations to protect all facilities that host individuals present there.
