U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone call with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, during which they discussed the importance of diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation of the conflict in Lebanon.
According to the official website of the U.S. Department of State on Sunday, the two ministers explored ways to advance the political process and implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a full cessation of hostilities in Lebanon and an end to the war between Israel and Lebanon.
The ministers also discussed ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict in Gaza through a ceasefire agreement that would bring prisoners back to their homeland.
