Walt Disney Company cleared on Tuesday its releases for May due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Disney postponed indefinitely Marvels highly-anticipated "Black Widow" movie, which was set to be released on May 1st.

It also delayed the releases of "The Personal History of David Copperfield", which was set for 8 May, and "The Woman in the Window", which was set to be be released on 15 May.

Marvel movies have been the kickoff to the summer movie-going season for the past years.

The black Widow is a prequel set in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, in particular, taking place in the two-year gap between “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War“.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanova, who died heroically in Avengers: Endgame.

The highly-anticipated movie also features David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz, and directed by Cate Shortland.

Johansson has already portrayed the character in previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, such as “Iron Man 2” (2010), “The Avengers” (2012), “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Captain Marvel” (2019), and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019).

Black Widow is set to kick Marvel’s Phase Four off strongly with a prequel all about the spy.

Marvel’s Phase Four list also includes, “The Eternals”, “Thor: Love and Thunder”, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is set to be released on Nov. 5, 2021. It’s the fourth in the series, starring Chris Hemsworth, with Taika Waititi on for writing and directing.

Thor’s former on-screen love interest Natalie Portman will play Lady Thor, the female version of the Norse God of Thunder.

However, fear not as Variety cited a source close to Marvel who stated that the delayed release of Black Widow will not alter the current MCU timeline, as the film is a prequel, thus it will not directly affect the future events.

“Falcon and Winter Soldier” original TV series and “WandaVision”, a Marvel original TV series is part of phase 4, which is set scheduled to be released on its original date, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to be released on Disney+ in August, while WandaVision will be released on Disney+ in December of this year.
