Black Friday.. CPA Warns Traders Against Making Fake Discounts

Yesterday was the last trading day of Black Friday or White Friday, but many companies announce offers and discounts during all the Fridays of November, so Consumer Protection Agency “CPA” warned traders against making fake offers as the fine could be up to 2 million Egyptian pounds.

Major General Rady Abd EL Moaty, the Chairman of Consumer Protection Agency said that the agency has summoned all the companies that announced their participation in the Black Friday and White Friday offers, to assure them the need to abide by the legal controls, and emphasized the need to make real , not fake, discounts, and to announce the price of goods before and after the discounts.

He stressed that those who make fake discounts to deceive citizens, will receive up to 2 million pounds fine, he also advised any citizen exposed to these fake offers, to call 16588, “Al Mowaten Rakib” service on WhatsApp No. 01281661880, the website of the agency WWW.CPA.GOV.EG, or via the agency Facebook page

The Chairman of Consumer Protection Agency stressed the implementation of intensive campaigns on the markets, to ensure the commitment of traders of announcing real discounts in prices.

In a meeting with a number of major companies participating in Black Friday and White Friday offers, he stressed the need to abide by the rights of consumers regarding purchases and to inform consumers of all products data, issue receipts, and stay away from misleading advertisements.

EL Moaty sent a message to traders and service providers that they should abide by the regulations stipulated in the Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018, offer goods and services of high quality, provide consumers with a clear receipt in Arabic and refrain from any negative practices that could harm the consumer.

He confirmed that those who violate the law would be referred to the Public Prosecution to take legal action.
