Birth of First Revolutionary Armed Forces

April 25, 1932 is the founding day of the first revolutionary armed forces in Korea.

President Kim Il Sung advanced the unique policy on achieving the country’s liberation by means of armed struggle and proclaimed to the whole world the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA), the first revolutionary armed forces with the Juche Idea as its guiding principle, on the tableland in Xiaoshahe, Antu County, on April 25, 1932.

Today when the 94th founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA) is being celebrated, the Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the proud history of the revolutionary armed forces which have won victories under the wise guidance of the peerlessly great men.

President Kim Il Sung clarified the immutable truth that arms are the lifeblood of the nation and victory of the revolution and founded the KPRA, the first revolutionary armed forces of Juche type, on April 25, 1932.

Since then, the Korean people came to have their own genuine army for the first time in history and a new history of the Korean revolution, which was pioneered and victoriously advanced by force of arms, has begun.

It was the military miracle in the 20th century that the President, leading the anti-Japanese revolution, trained the KPRA into a powerful main force for the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle and liberated the country by smashing the Japanese imperialists, and built the regular army with the KPRA as its backbone force and led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory by defeating the imperialist aggressors with the US as their ringleader.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who set it as his lifelong mission to carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by the President, ushered in a new era of the development of Korean revolutionary armed forces with his outstanding commanding art and steel-strong courage.

The People’s Army has developed into an invincible elite revolutionary army and the DPRK has turned into a world-class military power and a full-fledged nuclear weapons state. This was unthinkable without his wise leadership.

In the new century, Korean revolutionary armed forces, started the first step with two pistols, are ushering in a golden age of their development, demonstrating the might as the elite revolutionary army under the guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, peerlessly brilliant commander.
