The former “Love and Hip Hop New York” star Cardi B is set to be honored as Woman of the Year at the 2020 Billboard’s Women in Music event, a Billboard insider announced a few hours ago.
The Women in Music event is set to be aired virtually on Thursday, December 10th at 8 pm ET. The event will be hosted by Teyana Taylor. While Jennifer Lopez, Chloe x Halle and Dolly Parton are set to be honored too.
Cardi earned that title not just for her new Reebok deal, and her top of the charts single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion but also for her active political involvement this year especially during U.S presidential elections.
Cardi sat down with the current U.S President-elect Joe Biden back in summer and discussed the importance of voting, the COVID-19 pandemic, and her concerns about the state of Americans “This year, a lot of people couldn’t even celebrate July 4th, because not everybody feels like an American,” she commented regarding the issue.
Not to mention that after the terrible Jacob Blake shooting, the rapper took it to social media to express her anger towards the police brutality in the black community “Wow this is SICKENING! I can’t believe it! What’s going to be the excuse now?,” she wrote before continuing to explain how something seriously needs to change.
