U.S. President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, is set to have meetings in Cairo on Wednesday with Egyptian officials.

"The meeting will address human rights, Libyan elections and Israeli-Palestinian relations," the White House said in a statement on Tuesday.

In addition to Sullivan, White House adviser on Middle Eastern affairs Brett McGurk will also join him in the Cairo talks to discuss regional security matters.

National Security Council spokesperson Emily Horne stated that they will discuss the Libyan elections with their Egyptian counterparts.

"National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, joined by White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk, will travel to Cairo, Egypt for official meetings tomorrow," Horne said. "The US and Egyptian delegations will discuss support for Libyan elections and regional security, including in the Horn of Africa."
