On Saturday, U.S. President Joe Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan informed his Afghan counterpart that U.S. will review the landmark deal with the "Taliban" movement.

In a statement issued by the White House, Sullivan said that the review would evaluate “whether Taliban is committed to cutting ties with terrorist groups, reducing violence in Afghanistan, and engaging in meaningful negotiations with the Afghan government and other stakeholders,” the statement said.

Last year, American and Afghan officials announced that the US and its NATO allies will withdraw their forces from Afghanistan within 14 months if Taliban fulfill their obligations under an agreement signed in the Qatari capital, Doha, yesterday.

The announcement came in a US-Afghan joint statement issued in Kabul.

Last week the number of U.S troops in Afghanistan went down to 2,500, the lowest level of American forces there since 2001.
