US President Joe Biden, and American officials celebrated the membership of Finland in NATO, on Tuesday.
This move was taken by Finland after the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
In a statement, Biden said: “Today, we are more united than ever. And together—strengthened by our newest Ally Finland—we will continue to preserve transatlantic security, defend every inch of NATO territory, and meet any and all challenges we face."
The US President added that they are “strong democracies with highly capable militaries, who share our values and vision for the world.” He highlighted that Finland’s bid to join Nato was faster than any other previous membership process.
Biden also reflected he is looking forward to welcoming Sweden to NATO, therefore, he called on Turkey and Hungary to support Sweden’s membership bid and “conclude their ratification processes without delay”.
