Former US President Joe Biden has begun radiation treatment for an advanced form of prostate cancer that was diagnosed earlier this year.

According to his spokesperson, Biden is receiving both radiation and hormone therapy as part of his ongoing treatment plan.

The 82-year-old underwent Mohs surgery in September to remove cancerous skin cells, after which his physician confirmed that all affected tissue had been successfully removed and no further treatment was required at the time.

Biden’s prostate cancer, first revealed in May, has metastasized to the bone but remains hormone-sensitive, making it more responsive to treatment. His medical team expects the current course of radiation therapy to continue for around five weeks.

Reports indicate that Biden has already been taking oral hormone medication and is said to be responding well to treatment.
