Russia banned, on Tuesday, U.S. President Joe Biden, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in addition to a dozen top U.S. officials from entering the country.
Besides Biden, Russia's "stop list" included Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, CIA chief William Burns, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and former secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The ban comes as a response to heavy sanctions imposed by Washington on Russian officials. The foreign ministry later added Trudeau to the list of sanctioned inpiduals.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the economic sanctions imposed on that country due to the invasion of Ukraine, affirming that the West is trying to blame Russia for its own mistakes.
“The United States is trying to deceive its own population by hiding behind Russia,” Putin said following a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to Sputnik.
