US President-elect Joe Biden will appoint the prominent Democratic official, Ron Klain, as White House chief of staff and assistant to the president, according to US media outlets.
Klain is one of Biden’s closest confidants and first worked for the Democrat in 1989 when he was a U.S. senator.
On his part, Klain said in a statement: “It’s the honor of a lifetime to serve President-elect Biden in this role, and I am humbled by his confidence. I look forward to helping him and the Vice President-elect assemble a talented and perse team to work in the White House.”
A few days ago, Biden has sent a message to the American people that he will not be officially a president until the official inauguration on January 20, 2021.
He wrote on his official account on Facebook: “I won’t be president until January 20th .. but my message today to everyone is this: wear a mask.”
After a lengthy count, Biden’s victory was finally announced Saturday – with joyous scenes breaking out across the US.
He has defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States. He won Pennsylvania on Saturday to exceed the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.
Biden has pledged to be a “President for all Americans”, while running mate Kamala Harris said it was a race “for the soul of America”.
