US President Joe Biden will host Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday to discuss efforts to enhance the centrality of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and support international law.
In a statment, the White House said that Biden will reaffirm the US's commitment to deepening the partnership that has been in place for nearly 75 years between the second and third largest democracies in the world during his meeting with Widodo.
The statement added that the two presidents will explore opportunities to enhance cooperation on the transition to clean energy, promote economic prosperity, promote regional peace and stability, and strengthen relations between the two peoples during their upcoming meeting.
The statement also said that the two leaders will coordinate efforts to enhance the centrality of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), support international law, and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
