US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that the two-state solution is the only way to guarantee long-term security for Palestinians and Israelis, according to what was reported by the Arab World News Agency.
Biden added on the “X” platform that the United States will not stop working to achieve a two-state solution “to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis alike enjoy freedom and dignity.”
In turn, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, on Tuesday, reiterated to his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant in a call the need to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The US Department of Defense quoted Austin as saying that he stressed during the call the importance of governmental and non-governmental parties avoiding expanding the current conflict in Gaza. She added in a statement that Austin briefed Gallant on the United States’ efforts to protect its forces and interests throughout the Middle East.
On Monday, Arab countries and the European Union agreed during a meeting in Spain on the need for a two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, while European Union foreign policy official Josep Borrell said that the Gaza Strip should be subject to the rule of the Palestinian Authority.
