The White House said that US President Joe Biden discussed new defensive deployments to Israel in a phone call on Thursday with Benjamin Netanyahu.
The new US deployments are "to support Israel against threats such as missiles and drones," the White House said in a statement.
Biden, according to the statement, reaffirmed "his commitment to Israel's security against all threats from Iran, including proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis."
In addition to committing to defending Israel, Biden stressed "the importance of continued efforts to de-escalate broader tensions in the region."
Hezbollah said it fired "dozens" of rockets into northern Israel on Thursday "in response" to a deadly Israeli airstrike on a village in southern Lebanon, in the first attack by the pro-Iranian party since the Jewish state assassinated one of its most prominent leaders, Fouad Shukr, on Tuesday evening.
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi also threatened a "military response" on Thursday to what he described as a "dangerous escalation" by Israel, following the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said on Thursday that the battle with Israel had entered a new phase on all fronts.
