On Saturday, international outlets claimed that President Joe Biden may skip attending the first coronation ceremony for a British monarch in 70 years, the coronation of King Charles III.

A White House official told Time Magazine: “That does not feel like an event Joe Biden will attend."

However, the unnamed official asserted that Biden’s schedule for May is not finalized yet, which means that there are spots for adding more commitments.

Charles came to the throne in September after the death of his 96-year-old mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Previously, Biden expressed his admiration for the Queen, and he described her “a great lady” and “an incredibly decent and gracious woman" after her death

He was also among hundreds of world leaders and dignitaries that showed up at Westminster Abbey for paying their respect for the late Queen.

Biden is known for his massive pride in being an Irish American, adding that Catherine “Jean” Biden reportedly hated England so much that she refused to sleep in a bed that the Queen had once slept in.

In his memoir “Promises to Keep,” Biden said that the Finnegans, his Irish American family on his mother’s side, held deeply onto “Irish grudges.”

He recalled one of his aunts saying about his dad, “You’re father’s not a bad man. He’s just English.”

It is expected that the formal invitations to Charles’ coronation will be sent out to foreign monarchs and other world leaders in April.
