Biden Launches Fundraising for Presidential Library

Former US President Joe Biden has initiated plans to build his presidential library in his home state of Delaware, tasking a close circle of former aides, political allies, and friends with leading the project.

The effort will focus on fundraising and securing a location for the museum and archive.

The Joe and Jill Biden Foundation last week approved the formation of a 13-member board of directors to oversee the initiative.

The board includes former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, longtime adviser Steve Ricchetti, Democratic fundraiser Rufus Gifford, and other trusted allies with deep ties to Biden and his family.

The Biden library team faces the considerable challenge of raising funds for the legacy project of the 46th president at a time when the Democratic Party is divided over its future direction. Many high-profile Democratic donors have also slowed their contributions.

It remains unclear whether corporations and institutional donors, which have historically contributed to presidential library projects regardless of party affiliation, will support Biden’s effort. The political climate has grown more polarized, with former President Donald Trump continuing to attack Biden’s record and target groups aligned with liberal causes.

If realized, the Delaware library will serve as both an archive of Biden’s presidency and a public institution dedicated to education and civic engagement.
